I feel like I haven't done a review of skincare for a while. I used to buy so much but recently my addiction has changed to makeup! I think I need to find a healthy balance between the two as it's very important to me to look after my skin. Someone told me once that you can buy all the high end makeup you want but if your skin isn't good none of it will work. I think this is so true so of late I've been trying to stick to a good skincare routine, and at the heart of any good routine is a cleanser that works for you.
I have very oily skin, I'm talking about skin you could fry an egg on, however I also have some dry patches around my nose. I class my skin as oily so I usually buy an oil free cleanser that is designed for oily skin. Lately I got the impression that this was stripping my skin too much, leading to it drying out and sending my oil production into overdrive. I resolved to do something about it and so for the first time in my life I bought an everyday cleanser for ALL skin types, Woah…. calm down Megan. I decided on taking the plunge with the Vitamin E gentle Facial wash as I've heard some good things about the vitamin E range. Also my skin is on the sensitive side so I wanted something that wasn't too harsh. when your skin is so oily it feels so counter-intuitive to buy something that actually says it will moisturise your skin, nevertheless I'm glad I did.
The cleanser is really creamy and is a pale pink colour. I squeeze a pea size amount onto wet hands massage in and wipe off with a flannel. It doesn't really lather which put me off at first as I typically use a gel cleanser, however it gently removes all traces of the day's makeup and leaves me feeling soft and fresh. The Vitamin E cleanser is a great wash for daily use as it's super gentle and It contains Wheat Germ Oil to help combat dryness which is a bonus in these winter months. I've found since I've stopped using an oil free cleanser my face has actually become a lot less oily during the day.
I started using this product at the end of December and use it morning and evening, the condition of my skin has vastly improved. It produces less oil during the day and the severity of the dry patches has decreased. I have about half of my 100 ml tube left which is great value for £8, and I will definitely be repurchasing. If anyone reading this has oily skin and can’t seem to find anything that works to reduce it, take a step back and try using products that actually moisturise your skin. You can find The Vitamin E Facial Wash here, and The Body Shop usually have lots of offers on.
Have you tried this cleanser before?
