MAC - Angel

Hey guys,

Last week was very exciting for me as I bought my first MAC lipstick. I had finished exams and decided to treat myself J. I went to the shop looking for a natural colour that I could wear every day. The very helpful lady in the shop picked out three potential colours for me, however I eventually settled on Angel which is a pretty pale nude pink

It's the perfect colour to wear on a day to day basis and I have barely taken it off since I got it. It is a frost lipstick so has a glossy finish which is nice in the winter when your lips are a bit dry. The formula is divine, creamy and reasonably long lasting.

MAC lipsticks cost £14 and are available here

Two Candles

Yankee candle pondland
Hey guys,

Today's post is about candles, Now I would love to be able to justify spending my student loan on luxury scented candles unfortunately Some of them are just so expensive. So I thought I'd post about two candles that I own, one of which is a cheaper alternative. One is a Yankee candle that I bought off Amazon for £6.99 and the other I got from Poundland for yes you guessed it a Pound.  Both candles come in the same cute jar and smell gorgeous. The Yankee candle is Baby powder and the one from Poundland is called Fresh Linen. There were a few different scents in Poundland but I think Fresh Linen is the nicest.

I think the Poundland candle is great value for money, it smells lovely and has lasted a long time. obviously Yankee candle have an amazing range of scents and are more luxurious. I just can't afford to  have many of them and burn them all the time. The Poundland candle is so cheap I can dot them around my house and burn them on a regular basis without breaking the bank. If I'm having a relaxing evening in my room or having a bath I burn the Yankee candle as a treat and the baby powder scent is wonderful.

Have any of you tried candles from Poundland?

I hope everyone's having a great weekend. I'm off to see Les Miserable's tonight as my boyfriend has just finished exams and he said he's take me, I can't wait. Have any of you seen it? Is it good?

Battling the Winds of Winter - Dry Skin Saviours

One of the worst thing about winter is that the cold can really ravish your skin. In the recent cold snap I've been struggling to keep my skin looking at its best. So I thought I'd do a post about the products that I've established to keep my skin moisturised.

winter moisturisers dry skin caudalie

Body

Now I don't necessarily have mega sensitive skin, but as I often moisturise after I've shaved my legs in the shower I like to use something that's not too harsh on my skin. On occasion heavy scented moisturisers can cause irritation to my legs. My go to product is the E45 cream, it's designed to treat dry skin conditions so it's perfect for those winter months. The best thing about it is that it's so gentle, you can slather as much as you want on and it will absorb like a dream leaving your skin feeling as soft as a baby's bottom. The other product I find myself reaching for is Astra Llight and Creamy*, this is designed for sensitive skin and contains soothing Aloe Vera. The greatest thing about this product is that it has a light scent of Aloe Vera, this gives it the edge over the E45 cream which is unscented. You can buy E45 cream at shops like boots and the astral light and creamy is available here for £3.59

Face

I received the Yon Ka Pamplemousse moisturiser in a Joliebox quite a while ago now. At first I was disappointed as there were two available and I received the one which was wrong for my skin type. I  have very oily skin, however there was a mix up with the boxes and I received the one for dry skin. Nonetheless I tested It out and it has turned out to be a blessing. It's too heavy for me in the summer but in the winter it's perfect.  Despite the think formula it absorbs like a dream and I've found myself putting this on every evening before bed, and voila I wake up with perfectly smooth skin. Pamplemousse is French for grapefruit and this gives it its lovely scent, and 90% of its ingredients are from natural origin, which I'm finding increasingly important at the moment. This product is available here for £35.00 which is very expensive, however you can definitely feel the quality. It's made me really want to try the one for oily skin in the summer.

Hands and Lips

I recently took advantage of the feel unique sale and purchased a Caudalίe set for hands and lips. I thought they'd be perfect for carrying around in my handbag during the winter months. The hand cream is really thick but absorbs instantly. It has a silky smooth consistency and feels really nourishing without leaving your hands feeling greasy. The only thing I don’t like is the smell, I'm not sure what it is, I think it's meant to be grape but I'm not the biggest fan. Although the great quality and handy size of the product wins me over. In the set was also a lip balm, it says it's for sensitive skin and it does feel amazing on my lips. A good lip balm is essential in winter and I think I've found mine, I'm constantly slathering it onto my lips and it's made such a difference. It has a very light vanilla scent which is very pleasant. You can buy it here for £6.40.

So there you have it, my winter skin saviours. I don't know about you but I just cannot wait for spring now. The snow has turned to an icy death trap and the Christmas is so far away. I've already fallen over on the ice and although nothing was hurt but my dignity I cannot wait to see pavement again outside my house. For now I'll just have to brave the winds of winter and dream of spring.

Bourjois Blush - Rose Coup De Foudre - Review

As some of you may have noticed my blog has had a bit of a name change. This is all part of me wanting to make my blog more personal. I never truly liked the old name 'A Scholar Life' so I'm really pleased to have thought of a name I love. So without further ado I would like to introduce you to 'One Little Moose' J. So I guess some of you are wondering why one little moose? Well my boyfriend's nickname for me is Moose and I'm a tiny 5ft hence One Little Moose. I hope you all like it.

Now Let's get down to the review.  Bourjois' range of blushes are called 'Little Round Pot'. I think they're adorable, they're such a handy size and they come in a great range of 12 shades. I decided to buy number 16 Rose Coup which I think means Love-struck Rose. Before I went shopping I decided I wanted to find a natural looking everyday blush, and I think I've found it. Rose Coup is a pretty, coral / apricot shade with a hint of gold shimmer.

The blush comes with a handy little brush which is helpful if you want to use It on the go, however, when I'm at home I prefer to use my real techniques blush brush to apply it. The product is very pigmented, I have fair skin and found you don't need to swirl the brush in the product to get much on your brush. Having fair skin I have massive trouble with blushes making me look like a clown, I learnt quickly that this particular blush only needs the lightest tap to pick up all the product you need J.  The powder blends perfectly with the brush and it even smells gorgeous. Kind of sweet / rosey and you can smell it while you have it on which is especially pleasant.

Bourjois Blush - Rose Coup De Foudre - Review

I got the blush in Superdrugfor £5.49 which is £2 off. it's a great deal for these little blushes, I think I'm going to go down and pick up another one! You get 2.5g in a pot and I imagine it's going to last me ages.

I believe the 'Little Round Pots' are a great range they're both aesthetically pleasing and good quality for your money. I also love blushes with proper names and I think this one's name is so lovely.

Have any of you tried this range of blushes? Any recommendations for pale skinned girls like myself?

I'm Back - Photo Diary

I'm back! I'm sorry I've been a bit MIA over the past few months. It wasn't really planned but once I got back to uni the work piled on and I just didn't have the time to blog. However I'm going to try harder this term to find a balance between my work and my blog.

I was also thinking about this blog a lot and I think there's a lot of things that I enjoy that I miss out. So from now on this blog is going to hopefully reflect, well, me and my personality a bit more. I'm going to try and include some more food posts, book reviews and lifestyle posts. This blog actually started out as a food blog but on the way it sort of changed and materialized into what you're reading now.

Now sorry about this photo heavy post but I thought I'd show you what I've been doing instead of blogging lately to catch you all up on my life.
