Ted Baker SS Bloggers Competition

Hey guys,

I definitely shouldn't be blogging right now as I have two exams coming up very soon but I saw some of my favourite blogger enter this competition and it sounded right up my street. As I've been confined to my house and the library doing revision I haven't been able to go out shopping so I've been shopping from home instead. My retail therapy is in the form of browsing countless websites looking at clothes that I'm lusting over I really enjoyed doing this competition. Ted Baker is a brand I love, a few months ago my boyfriend bought some shoes from there and I had major shoe envy. (even though they were size ten black boys shoes)

You had to pick your favourite three items from the Ted Baker range and explain why you picked them.

I tried to go for a summery look and I fell in love with the shorts as soon as I saw them. The cardigan is perfect for those summer evenings to keep the cool air off. There's a bit of  a yellow theme going on which I love, as it's one of my favourite colours to wear at this time of year. The sandals would look perfect with the shorts and I can just imagine myself walking along a sandy beach in the sunshine wearing them. The best thing about the shorts is that they are so colourful and pretty you can wear a plain white top with them and your outfit would be sorted.

Hope you like my choices and if you want to join in on this competition you can do so here

MUA Blush - Shade 1

Hey guys,
Oh I how I wish I didn't have exams, all I want to do right now is to read blogs and write some awesome blog posts for you guys. Instead I'm at my desk hopelessly trying to revise for my upcoming exams.

Today I went into university for some seminars and as it's the first time I've left the house in a while I decided to make an effort with my makeup. I ended up using an MUA blush I bought a while ago and it made me realise how amazing it is.
MUA have a range of these blushes and they all cost a mere one pound. In my opinion there's no reason not to have the whole range, and I will definitely be purchasing some more colours soon. I have shade 1, and would describe it as a pretty pink maybe leaning towards the peachy side of things with a shimmery finish. For one pound I really wasn't expecting much when I bought it but I have to say I'm so pleasantly surprised. I applied this blush six hours ago and it is still visible on my cheeks. Obviously not as pronounced as it was when I first applied it but it's good enough, and anyway for one pound I'm happy to carry it around with me and reapply it throughout the day. The blush itself is pretty pigmented and is incredibly blendable, it is also very buildable too allowing you to flush your cheeks with a subtle flush of colour or layer it up to a more deep effect. One of my favourite aspects of this blush (except the price) is that the shimmery gold particles add a lovely glow to your face making this blush perfect for summer.

The only two problems I have with this product are that the packaging is a bit flimsy and the name is unimaginative. The product is just called shade 1 and I know this doesn't make any difference to the blush itself but I love buying things that have cute names. The blush comes in a cheap plastic container which isn't great but for £1 I'm glad they focused on the quality of the actual product rather than the aesthetics of the packaging.

My boyfriend and I are planning on going travelling this summer and because of this I've been on the lookout for some good quality but replaceable makeup to take with me.  I obviously have my collection of makeup that I love but I don't really want to take my favourite expensive makeup with me. So my mission is to find some cheap products to accompany me on my journey and  this blush fits the bill perfectly, it's not expensive but it's a great product and small enough to fit a couple of them in my backpack. So this is the first item on my list to pack, and I'm going to be keeping my eye out of any more potential travelling products.

Have you tried any blushes from this range? Any other shades that you'd recommend?

My Favourite Moisturisers for Oily Skin

One of the hardest things about having oily skin is managing to keep it moisturised without making it even greasier. I feel like I'm on a never ending journey to find a way to keep my skin hydrated, especially the driest parts around my nose. These three moisturisers have found their way into my daily routine and I think they've really made a positive difference to my skin.

I bought this after using up the sample size and really noticing a difference to my skin. The moisturiser itself is a cross between a gel and a cream, which means that it really hydrates the dry areas whilst controlling the excess oil. I use this in the morning if I've got a long day ahead and I need my makeup to last, it stops too much oil building up on my face throughout the day. It’s available from the body shop in store and online here and costs £10 for 50ml.

I've always loved the look of Balance Me products, especially as recently I've been trying to use skincare with more natural ingredients, so when they asked me if I'd like to try some products I was so excited. One of the products was the Balancing Face Moisturiser which is for normal to combination skin so was perfect for me. This moisturiser contains chamomile, neroli and moringa to gently moisturise while calming any breakouts.  I love the pump this uses to dispense the product as it makes it so easy to use. When you put it on your face it feels so light but it packs a great kick of moisture. I use this in the morning after cleansing to mattify my skin before putting on my base; it works great under make up and makes it so easy to apply foundation. It’s available from the Balance Me website here for £24.00

I've done a full review of this here and this is my go to night time moisturiser. It's designed for blemish prone skin and contains AHAs to gently exfoliate the skin. It doesn't block pores and is supposed to help control
oil production.  This has done wonders in clearing up my skin; the only thing that I don't love about this moisturiser is the smell. As I've mentioned before it smells a bit funky but it's worth it for how much it's improved my skin. Its available from Boots and the Avene website for £10.50.

So there's my go to moisturisers which help me combat my oily skin, however I'm always on the lookout for better products. Are there any you would suggest?
