Today I’m going to talk about a really great technique I use to apply cream highlighter. Up until this winter I was a bit of a highlighter noob, I lusted after the subtle glow it offered but I found it quite hard to apply it properly. One morning I was watching a video by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge she was giving a tutorial on applying cream highlighter and her tips have really made all the difference.
The two cream highlighters I own are Watts up by Benefit and the number seven highlighter, both of which I have blogged about here and both are great products. Both of these highlighters come in a stick form which I usually apply straight to the face. In Lisa’s video she emphasised how the highlighter should blend seamlessly with your foundation, and to achieve this she uses her foundation brush and applies it straight after the foundation has gone on. I usually apply my foundation with my real techniques buffing brush and once it’s in place highlighter is next on my list. I put a small amount on my cheeks and then blend using my foundation brush which will still have a small amount of foundation on it. It seems so obvious now but applying my cream highlighter this way has made me so much more confident to wear it and it gives you such a nice finish on your cheeks.
Here’s the link to the video to see it in action.
